Here is a video of an amazingly unique placenta from a birth I was at this week. While I was inspecting the placenta after the birth I noticed that it was a circumvallate placenta . The baby was fine and had 9/10 apgars.

during my 20 weeks fetal us the doctor found that circumvallette placenta. there is not much information because of rare incidences. i am 26wks and already experiencing mild pressure above pubic region and menstrual cramp like in low back and hip. i been to the doctor several times in the pass week. stree tess okay, urine okay, fetal fibrinectin not detected, i am drinking plenty of fluid and rest. no bleeding thus far. any suggestion. i am nervous and terrified.
I just want to let you know that this mom delivered at term, at home with no complications. We didn't even know that she had a circumvallate placenta until after delivery!
Being worried is understandable but know that plenty of women have normal, complication free deliveries with a circumvallate placenta! Also, I just read a study after receiving your post and none of the circumvallate placenta's were diagnosed on ultrasound, only after the birth, so I find it interesting that they diagnosed you prenatally. Maybe is was a false positive diagnosis.
I think it's important to keep up the good work with staying healthy, always feel for baby movements and be cognoscente of any abnormal bright red bleeding. Most women have no idea what type of placenta they have until after the birth and all is well!
I wish you well and hope that you have a great rest of your pregnancy. If I can assist you in any way with information please feel free to email me at: jdwillou@gmail.com
I was diagnosed at 22 weeks with a circumvallate placenta. it is in fact able to be diagnosed before birth. i'm basically now on a mission to find out how likely a successful pregnancy is with one; i am almost 27 weeks now & absolutely terrified of all the things that the internet says could happen.
